Use the slider to demonstrate a typical eyelid and eyelash problem.

Here you can see ingrowing eyelashes. A condition which is called Trichiasis.

Typical Symptoms of Eyelid and Eyelash Problems

  • A sandy or gritty feeling
  • Sore eyes
  • Uncomfortable and sometimes painful eyes
  • An itching or burning sensation
  • Short-term blurred vision
  • Watery eyes, as if you are crying (having watery eyes can mean you are producing poor-quality tears and actually have dry eyes)

These are some of the conditions that affect your eyelid and eyelashes:

Ingrown eyelashes (Trichiasis)

When eyelashes grow inwards, they continually rub and irritate the surface of the eyes, causing itchiness and a gritty feeling that you have something in your eye.
Sometimes the eyelashes causing the discomfort are so fine they can only be seen with a magnifying glass. Trichiasis can be caused by previous inflammation of the eyelids.

Outward-turned eyelids (Ectropion)

This can happen as we age, and it usually affect the lower eyelid and gives it a red appearance. If you suffer from Ectropion you often suffer with dry eyes or watery eyes as well.

Inward-turned eyelids (Entropian)

Entropion usually only affects the lower eyelids.
Because the lid is turning inwards the eyelashes rub on the eye and can cause severe pain and discomfort. This condition should be dealt with swiftly so that the cornea does not get damaged.

Eye lash thinning

If you have been suffering with eyelash problems for a while, the lashes sometimes get thinner and sparse. Thankfully at the Eye Health Clinic there is also a treatment to help you regrow your lashes.

Puffy Eyelids Treatment

Puffy eyes and dark circles are very common and can give you a tired and old appearance. This can cause you to feel embarrassed, and affect your confidence and self-esteem. The best solution for puffy eyes and dark circles will depend on the underlying cause.

Cataracts Treatment

What is Cataract Treatment?

Contact Lens Problems are common in the UK
Did you know that there is an actual proper side to wearing your lenses?
There are many types and sizes of contact lenses and its important to make sure you are using the correct lenses for your eyes.
If your eyes are stinging, burning, itching or painfull remove the lenses immediately and seek advice.

Glaucoma Management

The damage caused by glaucoma can’t be reversed. But treatment and regular checkups can help slow or prevent vision loss, especially if you catch the disease in its early stages.

Glaucoma is treated by lowering your eye pressure (intraocular pressure). Depending on your situation, your options may include prescription eyedrops, oral medications, laser treatment, surgery or a combination of any of these.

Dry and Wet Macular Degeneration

Treatments depend on the type of AMD you have.

Dry AMD – there’s no treatment, but vision aids can help reduce the effect on your life.

Wet AMD – you may need regular eye injections and, very occasionally, a light treatment called “photodynamic therapy” to stop your vision getting worse.
